As we head further into spring, we are honored to announce we’ve been named among Inc. Magazine’s list of 475 Best Workplaces for 2022.
The past few years have influenced major adjustments for businesses all across America, whether it meant transitioning to a work-from-home environment or realigning expectations to meet new challenges. To be recognized as a top place to work is a testament to the hard work the Sonar team has put in to ensure our office remains one where everyone feels valued.
When compiling the list, Inc. created an employee-engagement index using survey responses from over 370,000 employees across the country. In order to make the list, a company had to hit minimum cutoffs, adjusted by company size. Questions on the survey involved company history, entrepreneurial spirit, and their overall purpose and growth.
Some of the key responses found in the surveys included wanting to work for companies who place an emphasis on employee wellness, pay, and work-life balance through various PTO initiatives.
When it comes to company culture, Sonar strives to give its employees everything they need to be successful, and encourages maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Our own benefits include things such as unlimited PTO, which means employees never have to worry about whether an unforeseen absence will impact their pay. We also believe an employee’s health and wellness is essential to their ability to thrive both professionally and personally, so we offer competitive health care plans for all types of situations.
Along with the business side of things, a big part of cultivating a positive company culture involves getting out of the office and blowing off some steam. Building relationships outside the brick walls of the office leads to new levels of trust amongst the team and a deeper understanding of how everyone functions. Events like happy hours at the local brewery, trivia nights, golf outings, and trips to Braves games give everyone fond memories and life experiences with the people they spend a lot of their daily lives with. In order to create a thriving culture, it takes leaders who are willing to put in the work behind the scenes to make the magic happen. And Sonar’s Director of People Operations, Kayla Cox, is the woman behind a lot of the exceptional benefits and good times Sonar has to offer. Her philosophy behind creating a positive workplace says it best:
“My goal is to make Sonar an inclusive environment that celebrates different perspectives and backgrounds. I’m focused on building a supportive culture that picks someone up when they’re down, encourages each other, and recognizes the wins.”
CEO and Co-Founder Brad Smith shares Kayla’s sentiments about supporting employees wherever needed, and had this to say about making Inc.’s list:
“Being named to this prestigious list is truly an honor. We work hard everyday to ensure our entire team has the tools they need to win and grow in their career. I make sure to always have an open-door policy when it comes to anything a member of the Sonar team needs and wants to talk about, whether personal or professional.”Fostering a workplace each employee can believe in – one where they wake up everyday excited to come to work – is part of Sonar’s daily mission. Because at the end of the day, that’s what truly makes the difference between an employer and a great employer.
